Any time I need to get away and take a break from reality, I run to Las Vegas. It’s the perfect place to weekend to – offering everything you need to cleanse your soul. In 48 hours, you can party, relax at a spa, drink in your poolside cabana, play poker, shop at Vuitton and eat Gordon Ramsay’s signature beef wellington. Heaven. Absolute heaven.
Day One/Look One: An American in Paris*
*Paris, Las Vegas.
One of the things I love most about Vegas is the ability the casinos have to teleport you somewhere new. You walk in from the sweltering air into the air conditioned building. Past the rows of slot machines and poker tables, you find yourself in another country, another time, another place.
The Paris does this so well. Just beyond the craps tables is a beautiful little creperie and a lounge area with navy blue velvet tufted benches to relax on. The little patisserie is chock full of treats. Croissants and macarons, napoleons, and madeleines line the cases, winking at you from behind the glass. Cafe au lait is served to tired travelers while they read the morning paper.
It’s so easy to forget you’re in the middle of the desert here.
Husband and I spend a lot of time at the Paris, walking through the shops, sipping on tea, snacking on French pastries. I think I was minimalistic French style when I picked out this outfit. I love classic black and white – and this skirt checks every box on my “skirt must have list”.
Light and airy? Check.
Flattering length? Check.
Goes with everything? Check.
Day Two/Look Two: On Top of the World
If you’re going to shop, let’s face it, there’s only one place to do it in Vegas: The Forum Shops at Ceasar’s. It also happens to be home to several of our favorite restaurants: Bobby Flay’s Mesa Grill, Wolfgang Puck’s Spago and Gordon Ramsay’s Pub & Grill. I am most definitely a celebrity-chef snob, so it shouldn’t surprise you that I easily spend 10 hours wandering around Ceasar’s and come out broke as a joke, and equally as happy.
Continuing my obsession with co-ordinates, I wore this ridiculously sexy (and comfortable) pink set with white accessories. It made me feel like a fancy, Las Vegas Barbie. After an afternoon noshing and shopping with Husband, we drove up to the rooftop of the parking garage to enjoy the view. Once we saw how gorgeous the skyline was, we had to take some photos.
Day Three/Look Three: It’s the thing to do, Darling!
Well, dear reader, this last photo set was specifically for you. I don’t normally run to the line of tourists at the Welcome To Las Vegas sign – I typically avoid it! But, I thought to myself: Crystal if you’re going to do a Las Vegas post, you need to include one of the most iconic symbols in the world, much less the city. I love this dress – it’s called the “It Girl” dress and let me tell you – I certainly felt like an IT Girl while I wore it around town. There’s nothing I love more than a well fitting, lightweight white dress that I can move around and run around in.
I hope you enjoyed this mini travel diary and lookbook! I’ll be tackling another fabulous destination very soon – and it’s another one of my favorites. I left my heart there… *hint hint*
