If you don’t know what to wear, wear sequins. (it’s kind of my life motto)
Okay, ladies, let’s talk sequins. They are always going to be a go-to for special evenings out, trips to Vegas, bachelorette parties — but if you find the right one, they are absolutely daytime appropriate. Personally, for daytime, I love a matte sequin. The texture adds a bit of pizzazz to any outfit and gives it a fun, dressed up feeling. They key to toning down the sequins is to juxtapose the right items together. Think:
– a matte sequin skirt & a chambray button down top
– a sequin bomber jacket & destroyed skinnies
What we’re going for here is balance. The casual vibe of destroyed skinny jeans or a chambray top is going to balance the playfulness of the sequins so that the overall look is not too over the top.
Today’s look is a casual spin on sequins: I paired my matte bronze plus size sequin tank with some super slouchy boyfriend jeans and heels* – but to tone it down even more I went with a knit beanie with golden flecks (to tie in the color of the top). The black knit hat plays off my shoes and the casual vibe matches my jeans. See? Balance.
*because I’m just not one of those girls that looks good in boyfriend jeans and flats
