You guys. Christmas is just a few days away, and in a week, we’ll all be prepping for New Years.
CAN. NOT. WAIT.
Since there’s still time to find a bangin’ NYE look, I’ve decided to put together some combos to inspire you. My favorite NYE plus size dresses, coupled with nail and lip looks to bring the entire look together. Hope you enjoy!
Combo 01 : Sheer & Sweet
This dress reminded me so much of drinking a glass of champagne at midnight. It’s *so* lovely (and perfect for you apple & rectangle shaped babes). To play up the light and bright feel of the sequins, I love it paired with a beautiful milky pink sheer polish and a matching ‘just bitten’ sheer lippy for a hint of color and shine.
Combo 02: The Lady is a Vamp
This dress is for the girl who takes no prisoners. Tight on the bottom with a full gold sequin skirt and an oversized top, everything about this is badass. Up the attitude with vampy nails & lips. Smith & Cult is one of the most underrated nail polish brands and Lover’s Creep is a staple that I wear all year round, but I think would add a gorgeous touch to this dress. Black Cherry lipstick might seem a bit intimidating: work it in with your finger for a stained look, or apply it from the tube for an opaque sexy look.
Combo 03: Plum Perfect
Ahh, the glorious versatility of a silver metallic dress. It’s effectively a neutral. Just about any color combo will work with this plus size dress – but I think plum would be a great way to keep the look dark and mysterious while trying something new. A lot of women shy away from purple lips, but please don’t! They can be just as beautiful and chic as red. My favorite one (ever) is Up the Amp by MAC – the color is so rich and lush and makes me feel like a rockstar. Paired with this sexy deep plum nail color from Essie and it’s a winning (and slightly unexpected) combination.
Combo 04: Twinkle Star
If you’re the kind of girl that absolutely lives for the holidays – I mean the girl that uses any excuse to wear sequins from December 1st to January 31st – then this look is for you. The beautiful blue ombre of the dress is reminiscent of a night sky so it was an obvious choice to pair the dress with a silver and black glitter polish. (Ciate’s glitter polishes are fab – and just $8). To keep with the sparkly theme, I included a Dazzleglass from MAC. These are coming back into fashion for the spring (a natural reaction to years of matte lips) and this one in SugarRimmed is nothing short of a galaxy of sparkle on your lips. Wear SugarRimmed alone for a simply shiny look, or, layer it over your favorite berry lip color to take the look to a whole new dimension.
Combo 05: Screen Siren
If you’re the girl who watches The Great Gatsby over and over again – or (if you’re like me) you watch Marvel’s Agent Carter binge-style, then this combo is going to be right up your alley. ModCloth is my go-to for vintage inspired looks (they just get it right every time, don’t they?!) and this one makes me just swoon, darlings. A bit expected, but I had to pair this with classic reds: Rouge Louboutin on the nails and the pinnacle of matte vintage red: 1946 by Besame. If you haven’t heard, Besame specializes in re-creating vintage lipsticks to be as authentic to the originals as possible. 1946 is their most popular shade (and worn by the actress playing Peggy Carter on Marvels’ Agent Carter) and it’s an essential for any vintage look.
Hope this was helpful and inspired you to try something new this New Year’s Eve. Tell me in the comments which one is your fave look?
