about

“style is eternal”

Hi. I’m Crystal. I’ve been a writer for the better part of the last 13 years, starting in 2000 with a fashion & beauty site called West48 (before these types of sites were a thing) and eventually writing for About.com (a NY Times company at the time) and parlayed that into print writing for a bunch of local, national and international magazines and eventually a novel.

My day job is Creative Director at Hyperion Works. If you’re into learning more about that, head on over to the company website. Part of my job includes being a photographer, marketing consultant, web designer and head of operations.

My style is contemporary-classic. But, as much as I want to be sleek and stylish, I am a sucker for a perfect bow and neon pink. I have a severe case of wanderlust. If I’m not in Phoenix, you can find me in: Los Angeles, Las Vegas, San Fransisco and my hometown of Montreal.

I have a thing for Essence Bakery’s Salted Caramel Macarons. Other things I love include: Peach Iced Tea, Mindy Kaling, Apple products, pole dancing and being paleo (or trying to be. But that’s another story.) Oh, and I love tea. Especially Teavana, or the Canadian counterpart, David’s Tea. Give me a warm cup of Dosha Chai and a Madeline and I’m golden.

We shoot (almost) all the photos with a Nikon D5100 and a 50mm 1.8. Everything is edited in Photoshop. My amazingly patient husband, Nick, is the primary photographer for the site.
